After I had read the code, I couldn't help but sing Brown platitudes to whoever'd listen.
Munim from upstairs was more than happy to lend me his copy of Angels and Demons. I spent the whole of last weekend gorging it, and frankly, this novel is a lot more well written than the code, and has a far better climax.
I always ponder why the code became more famous than A&D even though they both share very similar themes, plots and character developments. For one, the code has a catchier title even though it has no bearing on the overall idea of the book itself. Second, Brown doesn't kill a whole bunch of his characters by the time the book gets over.
Killing your characters after so painstakingly developing them seems to me a little less fruitful.
